Essential First Aid

I was first introduced to essential oils in 1997.

What a blessing to my life and the wellness of my family they have been since day one.

I can remember my first Essential 7 kit arriving and thinking how foreign these little bottles were and wondering what the heck I was going to do with them. I’d decided to order this particular set because it offers a nice assortment aromas and purposes.

So the UPS guy drives up and plops this box of small mysterious bottles in my lap … it happened that I was feeling kind of crummy that day, and I thought “oh boy, something new to figure out” — *sigh* — I honestly didn’t feel like messing with it.

But there was a tape (yes a tape – lol).

And since I was feeling under the weather (it felt like I was coming down with strep – a-g-a-i-n) I figured, what the heck – I’ll rest and listen and see what all I’ve gotten myself into.

So I did.

And to say that what I heard on that tape blew me away is an understatement.

Here was a man telling me (among other things) that plant oils could replace, or at the very least seriously reduce my dependence on anti-biotics and other prescribed and over-the-counter medicines simply by adding the oils to my personal regimen.

The history of them was fascinating.

The gist of it being that these plant oils were nothing new — plants have been here in our midst forever. Only we had forgotten (in favor of ‘science’) that they were just the thing our bodies need to support wellness and healing.

“Let your food be your medicine” said Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, who compiled a list of over four hundred herbs and their uses. Herbs, spices and other nutritional substances are the oldest form of medicine known to man.Winged Wisdom

So I decided to give one of the anti-bacterial oils a run for its money. I decided to try using it on my throat for this oncoming bout with strep that I was feeling.

What did I have to lose?

I certainly wasn’t looking forward to the inevitable trip to the doctor for a prescription. That was all too familiar (and not cheap either!), since at that time I was getting strep at least 3 or 4 times each Winter – sometimes other parts of the year too.

To make a long story short – I chose lemon oil – and it worked for me then and every time since.

I have been strep-free for more than 10 years now.

Wouldn’t trade that for anything.
